À propos de cette activité
Our journey begins at the Royal Mausoleum of Mauretania, an iconic monument located between Algiers and Tipaza. Here, we get to know each other while discovering the fascinating history of the Numidian kings and the ancient Kingdom of Mauretania.
We then continue to Cherchell, formerly known as Caesarea, the capital of Roman Mauretania. The visit starts at the National Museum of Cherchell, home to one of Algeria's finest collections of Roman sculptures, mosaics, and archaeological treasures. Afterwards, we enjoy a walk to the harbor, stroll through the traditional market, and finish this stop by visiting the historic mosque of Cherchell.
In the afternoon, we explore the Roman Archaeological Site of Tipaza, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After an introduction to the city's history, we discover its most remarkable monuments, including the gladiator arena, Roman temples, the Cardo Maximus and Decumanus Maximus, residential quarters, Roman baths, and the remains of the ancient garum factory, where the famous Roman fish sauce was produced.
The tour continues to the impressive Early Christian Basilica, offering breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea, followed by the ancient watchtowers and city walls. If time permits, we also stop at the Albert Camus Memorial Stele, inspired by the beauty of Tipaza.
We conclude our visit at the Roman theatre and the ancient fountain, ending an unforgettable journey through more than two thousand years of history and heritage.
